Lots of big wins for the A11 teams this week, including Georgetown’s buzzer beater against Butler and GW’s 2OT thriller against Richmond. Virginia swept the week to stay the undisputed #1 team in the A11, but this Melo Trimble ankle break stole the show in the A11 as the Terps blew out Michigan State.

Every week, The DC Sports Bog (an online site managed by The Washington Post) will post their Atlantic 11, which comprises the top 11 D-1 college hoops teams within DC, Maryland and Virginia (27 in total, for those counting at home). This poll is conducted by a group of voters, myself included, who vote for their top 10. Every week, I’ll post my ballot here.

Even though it’s the “Atlantic 11″, they only ask the voters for their top 10 teams. Just in case anyone thought I was that poor at math.

1: Virginia: Sorry ACC Network, “Most consecutive weeks at #1 in the Atlantic 11 poll since the Ralph Sampson era”, isn’t gonna fly.

Last Week: W vs Clemson, 65-42. W at Boston College, 66-51

This Week: Georgia Tech, At Virginia Tech

2: Maryland: It’s really gotta sting Michigan State to get swept by the Terps in their first B1G 10 season. Speaking of stings, I heard Greg Anthony was in town this weekend.

Last Week: W vs Rutgers, 73-65. W vs Michigan State, 75-59

This Week: At Indiana, Northwestern

3: VCU: Hunter “Patch” Adams, the subject of the 1998 Robin Williams movie, is a prestigious alum of VCU. Less prestigious,  the “Cadillac Man” completed 43 credits before dropping out in the mid 80’s.

Last Week: W at Rhode Island, 65-60. W at Duquesne, 70-64

This Week: At Saint Louis, At George Washington

4: George Washington: So the Colonials took down George Mason on Saturday. I wonder which one is “Independent George” and which one is “Relationship George”

Last Week: W vs Richmond, 73-70 (2OT). W vs George Mason, 63-53

This Week: At Fordham, Duquesne

5: Georgetown: Monday night, I attend my first ever Georgetown game. Monday afternoon, I scour the local Craigslist ads for a lightly used Boubacar Aw jersey.

Last Week: W at DePaul, 78-72. W vs Butler, 61-59

This Week: Villanova, At Marquette

6: Old Dominion: With Jeff Jones as head coach and Bryant Stith as an assistant, the Monarchs are a “Head Trainer – Junior Burrough” away from having a UVa old timers day every single game.

Last Week: W vs Rice, 63-53. W vs North Texas, 61-50

This Week: At Middle Tennessee State, At UAB

7: Richmond: The Spiders double overtime loss at GW could have been avoided if all those players hadn’t left early to catch the last Metro train.

Last Week: L at George Washington, 73-70 (2OT). W vs Davidson, 89-63

This Week: At Dayton

8: American: John Feinstein Bobblehead night is always a hot ticket.

Last Week: W vs Lehigh, 62-59. W at Lafayette, 78-76

This Week: At Boston University

9: William & Mary: The Tribe’s best win this season is against Wofford at home. Welcome to the Atlantic 11!

Last Week: W vs UNC-Wilmington, 76-72. W at Towson, 85-72

This Week: At Delaware, Northeastern

10: Norfolk State: The Spartan’s 2012 upset of 2 seed Missouri in the NCAA tournament is basically the only thing keeping them in the poll.

Last Week: W at Bethune-Cookman, 79-55. L vs North Carolina Central, 60-56.

This Week: North Carolina A&T, At South Carolina State
